0w20 vs 5w20 toyota tundra. So for towing or warmer temperatures or long distance driving when the engine is at full operating temperature it will have a probably marginal benefit over the 0W20. Whats the difference between SAE 0W-20 and 5W-20 motor. I am looking for opinions on using either 0W20 or 5W20 in my 2007 Toyota Tundra 57L and what oil would be the best for this engine.
Not that much of a difference between a 0W or 5W20. I live in Wyoming and see temperature extremes on both ends. 14 Apr 17 2007.
At start up temps 5w will pump down to -30C. My understanding is that the 07 Tundra already comes with full synthetic 0w-20 Toyota oil. 0W20 is fine for the winter months but in the heat of summer 5W20 will be fine.

It is noteworthy that all 0W oils are synthetic. They allow your engine to perform at its highest efficiency and are very similar when compared. So you may be wondering how they differ.
5w20 is fine 0w20 is the best for any range as it will flow the easiest in any cold start whether its -10 or 50 outside which is why Toyota probably speced it in the first place. Bottom line 5W20 will work. She added that additive to prove to her customers that it worked.
